I read a fantastically simple article that speaks wonderful truths. It is entitled ‘What kind of content will work for your site?’
The article basically shares how to get better rankings based on your content. I want to share the main things I gathered from it and I also encourage you to go and read it yourself because I am willing to bet that you could walk away having learned something new.
“An increasing number of sites are growing their blogs rather than their static landing pages, and there are several good reasons for this,” said Sam Hall.
The thing with blogs, when you have old posts, instead of vanishing they actually build up. When they build up and have plenty of content in its storage, then more search inquiries can be targeted to your blog.
Another thing about blogs is that you update and refresh them often which shows Google and your readers that you have fresh and new content.
There is also more interaction on a blog with comments and responses and not only that, on a blog you don’t have to be as perfect at writing. Grammatical and spelling errors often add character rather than displaying incompetence.
Sometimes blogs aren’t the way to go. They may not fit in well with your professional type site. So instead of blogging, do New Updates.
Doing news updates gives you an opportunity to comment and discuss events in your niche and shows your readers that you are on top of things and are in the ‘in’ of your niche.
Pictures and videos are a great tool to show originality, interactivity and variety. This article does caution to not force the video on your viewer by having it automatically play.
You should practice several case studies to see how people in your particular niche prefer to have the video presented to them.
Do not rely too heavily on multimedia because, remember, text is much easier to search and to optimize on.
Don’t be afraid to try new things. You never know what will happen and what tactic you might discover. Even if you don’t discover the next great big amazing thing, viewers will still often appreciate an original, playful and creative webhost.
